England Lions in control despite Mathurin's career day

Left-arm spinner Gary Mathurin enjoyed a career day but it was not enough to prevent England Lions from taking control of their game against Windward Islands at in Roseau. Mathurin picked up 7 for 72, more than surpassing his previous first-class best of 3 for 11, to limit England Lions to 290 for 9 declared. James Harris led the way with 73, while Andrew Gale and captain James Hildreth chipped in with 47 and 41 respectively. Set 356 to win, Windwards stumbled out of the gate as 19-year-old left-arm spinner Danny Briggs struck twice in nine balls to leave the hosts 10 for 2 at stumps with one day remaining.

Carlos Brathwaite and offspinner Ryan Austin combined to give Combined Campuses and Colleges the first-innings lead over Guyana at Three Ws Oval . Darren Ganga led a strong Trinidad & Tobago response after Jamaica posted 356 on the back of Wavell Hinds' unbeaten 162 at Sabina Park in Kingston. Ganga, who has been T&T's leading batsman this season, continued his fine run of form with an unbeaten 75 to lead his side to 172 for 3. T&T lost Tishan Maraj early when he edged a drive to Simon Jackson at first slip off Andrew Richardson before Ganga and Lendl Simmons (56) shared an 84-run stand for the second wicket to set the platform for T&T's innings. Jamaica had looked set for a big score but lost their last five wickets for 31 once the partnership between Hinds and David Bernard (70), who had added 149 together, was broken by Imran Khan. Hinds struck 12 fours and eight sixes in his 266-ball innings.

The game between Barbados and Leeward Islands is evenly poised after the former managed 245 for 7 in pursuit of 277 on the second day at Sir Vivian Richards Stadium . Jonathan Carter led the way with a breezy 82, which took 125 balls and contained 13 fours and a six. He added 96 with allrounder Kevin Stoute (27) to rebuild the Barbados innings from a stuttering 108 for 4.
