As of today, January 7, there are 42 days left before the global competition gets underway at the Shere Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur, India. On February 19th at 8:30 AM GMT, India will take on Bangladesh in the first match of the Cup while on February 20th, New Zealand will face Kenya in Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai.
The West Indies cricket squad will play their first match against South Africa on Feb. 24th at the Feroz Shah Kotla stadium in Delhi.
Fourteen teams will take part in the tournament with games set to be broadcast to a global audience in over 180 territories. Australia is the tourney`s defending champions.
Nine editions of the tournament have taken place to date, with the event being won by Australia on four occasions (1987, 1999, 2003, 2007), West Indies twice (1975, 1979), and India (1983), Pakistan (1992) and Sri Lanka (1996) on one occasion each.
